Description

The colours and sculptural structure of succulents make them the perfect subject matter for a gorgeous watercolour painting! In this three-hour workshop, artist, illustrator and surfer Hannah Katarski (aka Mermaid's Coin) will teach you the fundamentals of using watercolours and how to apply them in a quirky, illustrative style.

In this fun and relaxed class, You will learn how to handle your brush to create crisp edges, mix and layer colours and apply line as an after effect. Inspired by the colours and textures of succulents, you will also experiment with wet-in- wet techniques and incorporate 'happy accidents' into a successful composition.

About the Teacher:

Hannah is a maker and illustrator who uses printmaking techniques and watercolours to create work that is vibrant, retro and fun. Her work is primarily concerned with capturing the coastal lifestyle of WA. She also has a thing for succulents.

19 February 2018 • Watercolour Succulents

I really enjoyed the Watercolour Succulents class. I loved the mixing and techniques exercises before getting onto the succulents. I wish there had been more time to finish my second piece but I will definitely be having a go at home. Hannah was a great teacher. Would certainly be interested in more classes and now I know how to find the place, it would be even easier! I would suggest some temporary signage at the bottom of the street when you have a class running to show us the way.
